Live Homework Help

Thanks to the support from the Arcadia Public Library Foundation, Arcadia Unified School District, and the Berger Foundation, the Arcadia Public Library is pleased to be able to offer online tutor services for ALL AGES at Live Homework Help® from Tutor.com

Live Homework Help® tutoring is easy to use and is available every day from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm Pacific time.  Students can also access the Student Center or the College Center to receive help in Math, Science, Social Studies, or English, along with ProofPoint Essay Review or the SkillsCenter Resource Library 24/7.  In the Career Center adults are also able to receive assistance from Career Help, Citizenship, GED Prep, or Back-to-School.

Connecting to a tutor is easy!  Students simply click on the Live Homework Help® icon above and then, if connecting directly from the Library, at the first screen that appears:

  1. Select your grade/age level.
  2. Select the subject you need help with.
  3. Click "Connect"!  You will be connected to the next available tutor for your subject and grade/age level in a few minutes or less.

If you are connecting from a computer outside of the Library you must type in the barcode on your Library card in the box on the Login screen.  Please be sure to enter all 13 or 14 digits of the barcode using all capital letters and no spaces, (for example PARC000123456+).  Then you will complete steps 1, 2, and 3 that are listed above at the next screen that appears.

Once connected, student and tutor will enter an "The Online Classroom," where both parties can use a variety of tools, including instant messaging and a dynamic whiteboard with a full suite of drawing and math tools.  They can also browse the web together for relevant web pages and Internet resources to further the learning process online and to share a rewarding learning experience.  If you have additional questions about this program, please refer to http://lhh.tutor.com/policies/faq.aspx.

PARENTS:  Please be assured that every tutor has completed a thorough background check and a comprehensive training program.  All tutors are certified teachers, college professors, professional tutors or graduate school students from across the country.

PLEASE NOTE

ALL USERS:   If you have Internet security or a firewall enabled on your personal PC you may have a problem connecting to Live Homework Help® at tutor.com.  You may need to disable it temporarily while connecting.

STUDENTS:  Your personal PC must have Windows 2000 or higher, Flash 8 or higher and Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher to run this service.  Mac users must use Safari or Firefox (2.0 or higher) browsers on Mac OS X.  Public stations at the Library meet these requirements and are available for your use to access Live Homework Help®.
